LHMU members colored the Walk Against Warming
Maroon balloons bobbed in Brisbane and LHMU flags and banners populated walks in Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth. Good on us!
LHMU had a great presence at Walk Against Warming on the weekend, with dozens of officials and members participating around the country. Over 100,000 Australians walked, to send a clear message to world leaders in Copenhagen that it's time to deliver real action on climate change: the world needs a fair, ambitious and binding treaty.
LHMU helped to sponsor and build the event, and appeared on the events material. Well done everyone, and keep up the struggle!
The turn-out was just fantastic. In Adelaide 5,000 people walked, in Melbourne 40,000 people marched and formed a human sign - Safe Climate - Do It! Sydney had 15,000 people march and in Brisbane there were 10,000 people and around 100 carried LHMU balloons. Perth also saw a rally including a visible LHMU contingent. In Darwin the Walk had to be cancelled (ironically) due to extreme and unseasonal weather.
